In 2004, the American Heart Association (AHA) faced a challenge. Cardiovascular disease claimed the lives of nearly 500,000 American women each year, yet women were not paying attention. In fact, many even dismissed it as an older man’s disease. To dispel the myths and raise awareness of heart disease & stroke as the number one killer of women, the American Heart Association (AHA) created Go Red For Women, a passionate, emotional, social initiative designed to empower women to take charge of their heart health. This Friday, February 5th is Go Red Day for women’s heart health across the globe.
Cardiovascular disease eventually claims the lives of one out of every three women, not just in the US but globally. Whether Red is your favorite color or not, or whether Red is or is not a common color for you to wear, let’s all wear at least some Red on this day to show your support and increase awareness for all the women in our lives that we cherish.
Stay Safe & Be Well,
