Many of us will start this weekend as we start every other weekend, often with either a hectic “to-do” list, planned social activities and/or just some planned relaxation. The biggest distress will seemingly to be whether or not it will all get done.
But this is not a normal weekend. As we know, twenty years ago the US was brutally attacked. As a direct and immediate result, 2977 innocent Americans perished. And that was just the beginning. Over the past twenty years, countless individuals and families from nations all over the world have suffered loss both directly and indirectly as a result of the terrorist attack which occurred on 9/11/2001.
Nothing will ever fill the voids left in the lives of those who were directly impacted. But at least they know and can take comfort in that we will always remember and honor those who perished. We will not forget. So today, as we do each year, let’s take a pause and remember. A moment of silence to recognize all of the victims, all of their families, all of the brave first responders, all the people who gave their lives that day to save others, and all those who have suffered as a result since.
