World Compliment Day was originated by Hans Poortvliet, a recognition professional in the Netherlands. In the early 2000s, after he started the initiative in his own country, the success of it made him wonder if making it worldwide instead of just national would eventually turn it into “The Most Positive Day in The World”.
Even though 61% of people say compliments embarrass them, that does not mean you should not share them.
In today’s fast paced digital world, taking the time to compliment individuals around us should be something we continue to express. This March 1st is a good time to start and continue into the days that follow. Compliments are free and have staying power for the recipient.
So take part on this day and share those words of gratitude and appreciation for all those who make a difference in our lives!
