The original objective of Labor Day was to help offset the pressure of long working hours and little to no time off, in short literally to give workers a break. Although labor laws and workplace safety requirements have since been addressed by legislators some time ago, the need to step back and take a break is becoming increasingly important again. Increased connectivity to our work via email (and our mobile devices) is once again preventing many from taking a break from work, contributing to excessive work burdens as we stay connected 24/7.
If this sounds like you, consider starting a new tradition which honors the original intention of Labor Day and allow yourself to take a break and disconnect. Take the time to let your mind rest and rejuvenate. Step back from your regular grind and do something that you enjoy, such as a barbeque over the holiday or a favorite leisure activity surrounded by your family and loved ones just as Labor Day was originally intended over a century ago!
As we celebrate this holiday weekend, let’s also give praise to all the Essential Workers of the Military, First Responders, Medical Field and Emergency Services that, despite the holiday, must still report to work.
Stay safe & be well,
From the BIOLIFE4D family to yours:
